Define what your Hurghada connection must support
List the activities that matter during a normal stay. These might include one person making work calls while another streams television, uploading photographs or keeping in touch with family. Note where each activity will happen and which devices you will bring.
Ask your employer or service provider for any application-specific requirements instead of adopting a generic speed target from an advertisement. Your own requirements should guide the assessment.
Use our apartment floor-plan guide to identify a realistic desk position before you test. A successful demonstration beside the router is less useful if your workspace will be in a different room.
- Confirm service availability for the exact apartment with the provider.
- Test your normal tasks where you expect to work, relax and make calls.
- Clarify account setup, package terms and a separately tested backup option.
Identify the service behind the Wi-Fi name
Ask whether the connection being demonstrated belongs to the apartment, serves several homes or comes from a temporary mobile router. Record the provider and package description supplied by the account holder. Clarify whether the demonstrated equipment is included in the sale.
For a new installation, seek confirmation from the provider for the full address and exact apartment. Ask what infrastructure is already available, whether an appointment or building access is needed and which steps remain before activation.
For an off-plan property, request the developer’s intended connection arrangements in writing. Treat an intention or advertised facility as something to verify at the relevant stage; it does not demonstrate an operational connection today.
Test inside the Hurghada apartment you may buy
With the host’s permission, connect your own device and identify whether you are using Wi-Fi or mobile data. Keep a simple record of date, time, room, connection and result. Avoid recording private account details or anyone else’s personal information.
Egypt’s telecom regulator describes a Wi-Fi and mobile-data speed-test function in its official introduction to My NTRA. Check the current app’s access requirements, or ask the provider to demonstrate its recommended test method.
Try a short video call and an ordinary upload as well as a speed test. Repeat from the proposed desk and another room you expect to use. Record any interruptions without assuming that one result establishes the connection’s long-term performance.
Make your results comparable
Ask for a second test at another time if connectivity is central to your purchase. Keep the device and test locations consistent where practical, and note what else was using the connection. A record of several ordinary sessions is more informative than a single impressive screenshot.
| Test | Evidence to keep |
|---|---|
| Desk location | Connection used, test time and experience during a short call. |
| Second room | Same device and task, noting interruptions or differences. |
| Mobile alternative | Operator, location and observed performance on mobile data. |
| Follow-up visit | Repeated tests and any change in equipment or conditions. |
For remote viewings, ask your host to show the room and connection used before sharing the result. Add this request to our Hurghada video-viewing checklist.
Tell us your preferred area, bedroom needs and how you expect to use the internet. We can include connection questions and testing time in your viewing plan.
Check the account and backup arrangements
Ask the provider what documents are needed to open or transfer the appropriate service, who will be named on the account and how support requests are authenticated. Clarify current charges, data allowances, renewal dates, equipment costs and any service limits directly before ordering.
Test a mobile-data alternative if staying connected is essential. Confirm that the device is actually using that service during the test. Check package terms and suitability with the operator; a phone displaying signal bars alone does not tell you whether your intended tasks will work well.
Discuss power and equipment arrangements with the building manager and a qualified supplier if you need continuity during interruptions. Ask which devices a proposed solution supports. Avoid treating backup equipment as a guarantee that the external network will remain available.
Make connectivity part of your purchase decision
Summarise each shortlisted property under three headings: available and tested, available but awaiting activation, and unconfirmed. Attach the provider’s response and your viewing notes. This helps you distinguish a manageable installation task from a dependency you cannot yet assess.
Decide how much uncertainty your intended use allows. Someone relying on daily client calls may want stronger evidence before committing than a holiday buyer who mainly uses messaging. Give Hurghadians Property that requirement at the start, so viewings can include time for connectivity questions and the property search reflects the way you will actually live.
