The index ranks 172 cities around the world based on five categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure. The index measures how well each city provides its residents with the best or the worst living conditions.
According to the 2023 report, almost all of the cities saw improved livability, with an average score of 76.2 out of 100. This is the highest average in 15 years, thanks to the easing of covid restrictions and the progress in healthcare, education, culture, and infrastructure.
The top 10 places to live worldwide are scattered across Western Europe, Oceania, Canada, and Japan. Here are the best places to live in the world in 2023, according to the EIU.
10. Auckland, New Zealand
Overall rating: 96.0
Auckland is New Zealand’s largest and most cosmopolitan city, with a vibrant cultural scene and stunning natural beauty. Auckland has climbed 25 ranks to enter the top 10 this year, after lifting its strict covid measures.
